HOW IT ALL STARTED
This story starts as most relationships do with a young boy and the outdoors. His father waking him up before dawn to make some memories he will cherish forever and pass down to his young ones during this same type of expedition. These adventures on the water gives time for a parent to dip into the life of their children. My Father and I talked about every topic you could think of from cars to relationships and bragging rights with every hook set. Some of my most inspirational conversations during these moments was about design. We spent countless hours on and off the water modifying our gear. From adding a simple attachment to a rod the night before a tournament, to pairing the right line and reel before the sun rises. There was always a better way through our eyes.
As the days past, those memories were filed in the back of my mind while I started my own life. First a career, then marriage and kids. Life was moving "as it should" for a young man until my fishing partner past away. In this moment, the memories from our past came flooding back with all the emotions this type of circumstance brings. It's amazing how your feelings can reach all ends of the spectrum in a matter of seconds while fumbling through a loved ones belongings. Luckily for me my father was a simple man. This treasure hunt consisted of Rods, reels, tackle boxes full melted plastics, jerk baits, and a Zippo lighter to lighten the mood.
Then there was the mountain of papers stacked in the back of his closet that seemed pointless to tackle, but my curiosity told me to check so nothing was missed. As I sorted through the weathered pictures and decade old gas bills, I started coming across all of the ideas my father and I created during those special moments. Whether it was simple sketch on a napkin, or a full sales pitch waiting to be sent, everything was there.
My father always claimed we had some native american in our family tree and would always tell us a story about the Red-Tail Hawk. He would tell us that the Red-Tail is the protector of the tribe and when you see one flying over, it is your ancestors watching over you. Fishing and design is in our blood. It is time we share our secrets.
What's Next
Patent issued and jigs in full production. Time to hit the ground running to get our newly patented design to a manufacturer that shares the same quality in craftsmanship as we do.
